capital city market incubator

A proposed design for technology incubator hub in the historical Capital City Market neighborhood in northeast Washington D.C.. Fragmenting what would otherwise be a large single building, the proposed design breaks down the massing into three smaller and separate volumes that remain interconnected by a shared underground service level and core. Like trees sharing a single root structure, this strategy managed to successfully preserves the client’s required efficiency of a single structure while inserting a series of open and interconnected public squares that help weave the surrounding neighborhood with the adjacent Gallaudet University campus.
