Capital City Market

A commissioned master plan for the redevelopment of the historical Capital City Market neighborhood in Washington D.C..

Fragmenting what would otherwise be a large building sites, the design strategy introduces smaller building masses that remain interconnected by a shared underground service level and core to help break down the scale of the neighborhood. This approach allows for the creation of a series of open and interconnected public squares that help weave the surrounding neighborhood with the adjacent Gallaudet University campus along a new active corridor on 6th street. The developments includes residential, commercial and academic spaces was well as a residential anchor campus for Teach for America.
